Award in Door Supervision (Scotland) SCQF Level 6

From 1st April 2021, any candidate booking a Door Supervisor course will be required to hold a valid first aid certificate.
This has to be presented to the tutor prior to any training and new regulations came in to effect that saw the number of hours for each unit increase.

Duration: This qualification is achieved by taking a 6 day classroom-based course accompanied by blended and/or distance learning.

Target Audience: 
The Private Security Industry (PSI) Act of 2001 means that everyone wishing to work legally in certain roles in the private security sector has to have a licence. The licences are administered by the Security Industry Authority(SIA).

Assessment Method: 
The SIA Security award consists of four mandatory units.

Knowledge and understanding will be tested by multiple choice question papers. Practical skills for the Physical Intervention unit will be tested through observation of practical performance by a qualified Assessor.

What happens after I pass my exam?: 
After passing the Award in Door Supervision (Scotland) exam and receiving your Certification, you can then make an application to the SIA (Security Industry Authority) online through their website here in order to obtain your SIA Licence.

Please be advised that the course duration is 6 days and the processing time for results is normally between 2 and 3 weeks for you to obtain your Qualification. Furthermore, upon your application to the SIA, there will be a processing time therefore please take this into consideration when thinking about time-scales for applying for obtaining a licence.
